Whoooooosh! That’s February and #ReadIndies 2023 whizzing by in a flash. Time sure flies when you’re having fun. Last minute reviews are coming thick and fast, but don’t panic. There’s time to review the book you might still be in the middle of. Reviews will be accepted up to and including Monday 6th March. With 100 pages of the novel I’m reading still to go, I’ll be taking advantage of the extension as well!
Apologies for any technical issues with Mr Linky, who gets more crotchety with each succeeding event. He’ll find himself dumped , if this carries on. If you weren’t able to link your review at https://readindies2023.blogspot.com/2023/01/our-indie-bookshelf-2023.html, either tweet it using the #ReadIndies hashtag or leave a comment below, and I’ll make sure it’s included in the event master index.
At the beginning of the month I said I was in the mood for an adventure to discover some new-to-me publishers, authors, locations. Well my 10 choices for the event certainly provided that. They included books from 6 new-to-me publishers and circa 30 new-to-me authors (the two anthologies certainly helped on that score). Location-wise I started in outer space, landed in Scotland, travelled the length of the UK to Ramsgate via Kent, before sailing the Mediterranean from Gibraltar to Malta, up the Adriatic to Croatia, then east to Serbia and Montenegro. After that I travelled all over Eastern Europe and Russia during the Bolshevik Revolution and the Stalin Era, before escaping with Banine to 1920s Paris. My final read (review pending) brings me back to the UK.

Such a great itinerary served up by the Indie Publishers this year. I never gave a thought to the bleak damp greyness that prevailed outside for most of the month.
There will, of course, be more indie reading to follow. The bookstack below consists of the new indies that entered Lizzy’s Library this month. 3 purchases (I was very controlled in view of all your wonderful recommendations) and 5 review copies. More details to follow on a twitter #bookpost thread.

In the meantime, a final thank you to all who participated, and special thanks to my indefatiguable co-host, Karen. I want to know how do you read and review so quickly?
P.S Note to Marina Sofia – I really enjoyed #FrenchFebruary which dovetailed wonderfully with #ReadIndies. Let me know if you decide to do it again. I could probably put a full month of Indie French reading together.
What a speedy month it was – but such fun! Thanks for being such a great co-host (and doing all the difficult/technical stuff behind the scenes). You read some amazing books there (and the incomings look grand). As for my reading speed – I’ve always been a fairly fast reader, and I did have half-term during February…. 😉
Seconding your thoughts re #FrenchFebruary too – I have a nice selection on the TBR which would fit the bill!
